Utah’s law enforcement and correctional officials recognize that incarcerating addicts is ineffective in treating addiction. Unfortunately, those who are incarcerated because of their addiction, often return to the same living situations that contributed to their addictions to begin with!  In response to this issue, Eagle Mountain Drug Rehab has developed a strong partnership between the Courts, Adult Probation and Parole, and other criminal justice entities.

Eagle Mountain Drug Rehab is a Justice Reinvestment Initiative (JRI) certified treatment program through the Department of Health and Human Services. This means we are recognized as being uniquely qualified to assess and treat clients involved in all areas of the Criminal Justice and Department of Corrections systems.

Here at Eagle Mountain Drug Rehab, we offer many treatment options for individuals looking to serve their court-ordered addiction sentence. While treatment may be ordered by the Court or a probation officer, patients can take the opportunity a criminal sentence may provide and use the experience as a means to changing their lives.

In Utah, patients have the right to choose from a number of licensed treatment programs. Most Courts in Utah have a “preferred providers” list which the patient is given post-sentencing. Eagle Mountain Drug Rehab is proud to say that we are a preferred provider not only with the Court, but recognized as a premiere treatment program from several local authorities.

There are many different ways the Court can offer someone who is addicted the motivation to succeed. They can do “in-jail” programming with an assessment and be released early to attend treatment; they can be placed on a “plea in abeyance” which means if they successfully complete treatment they will have their charge dismissed; they can enter into Drug Court which upon successful treatment completion will result in dismissed charges; or they can be placed on supervision with a probation officer who requires treatment in order to successfully complete probation and remain out of jail.

Eagle Mountain Drug Rehab has shown through advocacy, timely reports to the Courts and probation officers, and an inclusive attitude that brings all the players to the table as one big treatment team, that we can be trusted to not only provide excellent treatment but that we “play well with others”. While court ordered treatment can be a strong motivation, not every individual has the attitude or willingness to change. In some cases, individuals may be a danger to themselves or others and may have to be referred back to the Courts or their probation officer. As much as we advocate for our patients, it is our community responsibility to immediately let the Courts know that we may have to discharge a client prior to them completing treatment. We do, however, leave the option of returning at a future date, should the patient have a change of heart.

Eagle Mountain Drug Rehab also makes a point of attending sentencing hearings of our patients, so that the Courts know we are invested in our patients’ successes, and will still be answerable to the Courts.

"I had such a great time while under the care of Eagle Mountain Drug Rehab. The staff was courteous and very knowledgable. They truly cared about me and did not treat me like I was just some pay check for them. They went out of their way to make me feel comfortable." -Jeremy L.
