Eagle Mountain Drug Rehab Interventions |
|
An Intervention is conducted by a certified Interventionist and is process designed to have family and loved ones get together and create a plan on how to approach the person they are concerned about. Often families allow emotions to overcome them when confronting the loved one they are worried about or they allow the person of concern to dominate and manipulate the process. The education and coaching provided by the interventionist is essential for the family and other concerned parties so that they may remain as neutral and shielded from the manipulations, guilt, tears, acting out and other strategies the addict engages in to control the situation. The addict may hold resentment for what they see as being “sucker punched”. They may feel alienated, singled out, or victimized.
People with addictions are often in denial about their situation and unwilling to seek treatment on their own, or don’t feel they are strong enough to “do it”. Often, family members unwittingly become co-dependent with the addict and non-professional interventions usually end up with the addict manipulating and controlling the process to get what they want. By seeking out one of our trained Interventionists, Eagle Mountain Drug Rehab. can assure family and loved ones that they will control the intervention and hopefully guide the addict into accepting the help offered. Our interventionists have had amazing success in helping families get through to their loved one who is an addict. Most agree to get the help they need. We also have Medical Management to assist with the issues of withdrawals. If using one of our Interventionists, our medical staff will be working in concert with the Interventionist to make sure your loved one will not be in any physical danger from abruptly stopping their using. Alcohol and Benzodiazepines are especially dangerous and must be medically managed by a trained physician familiar with these drug withdrawals.
What is an Interventionist?
A professional drug interventionist is someone who, on top of having state licenses or certifications and having worked in the field of substance abuse, goes on for specialty training so they can recognize the behavioral patterns of addicts. This interventionist will gather together the family and loved ones and create a plan, based on what the family can tell the Interventionist about their loved one, on how the intervention is said (whether verbally or in written form) and how to get the person to the final meeting, usually under the false pretenses of a family party or a reunion of some kind. While it may seem “sneaky” to lie to the addict to get them to the intervention, this subterfuge catches the addict unawares, and their ready-made defenses are often not in place. This allows for more honesty. The Interventionist can help coach the family in how to remain in control while explaining how the loved ones’ addictions have impacted them. The family and loved ones take this opportunity to let the addict know how they have impacted the family with their addiction and what they expect the addict to do next.
